The area has a long and distinguished history of joint working on strategic planning dating back over 70 years.

Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS)

The Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) will provide a place-based strategy that guides future development across the Glasgow City Region. Key aspects include identification of networks of regionally significant centres and ensuring the spatial strategy identifies and responds to nationally and regionally recognised natural and historic areas and assets.

Work on preparing the RSS will begin once statutory guidance is in place which is expected to be published by the Scottish Government in late 2023/early 2024.

In addition users are also be able to view the Housing Land Supply, the Industrial Land Supply and the Vacant and Derelict Land Supply across the Glasgow City Region for 2016 as well as the Glasgow City Region City Deal project locations and the 15% Most Deprived areas identified in the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2016.

Welcome to Clydeplan

Clydeplan is the operating name for the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Strategic Development Planning Authority Joint Committee and comprises the eight local authorities of East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire Councils who work together on strategic development planning matters.

The principal role of Clydeplan is to prepare and maintain an up to date Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) for the Glasgow city region. This process involves engagement through joint working and consultation with a number of key stakeholder organisations and the wider community.
